Swedish Massage is a very relaxing and therapeutic style of bodywork. It combines an array of strokes including effleurage (long soothing strokes), petrissage (kneading), and tapotement (tapping) to help the body improve lymphatic flow, increase circulation and relieve stress. The benefits of this type of bodywork are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels, temporary decrease in BP, enhanced mental clarity and mood, improve appearance of skin, and increase flexibility.
Deep Tissue Massage is a form of bodywork that aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body. This is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions and past injuries. Deep tissue massage is also used to treat particular musculoskeletal disorders and complaints, employing a dedicated set of techniques and strokes to achieve a measure of relief. Due to the nature of the deep tissue work, open communication during the session is crucial to make sure you don't get too uncomfortable. Keep in mind that soreness is common after the treatment and that plenty of water should be ingested to aid with recovery of the muscle tissue.
Trigger Point Therapy is a style of bodywork that focuses on stimulating and releasing "trigger points" in your body. These are tender areas of tension similar to acupressure points, except they occur in the belly of the muscle rather than along the energy pathways of the body. These "knots" are built up throughout a person's life due to physical, mental and/or emotional stress. During a session, focused pressure is applied through a variety of techniques in order to release your trigger points. This process can be quite painful at times yet the effects are lasting and profoundly transformative.
Pregnancy Massage is a style of bodywork designed specifically for pregnant women. Maternity is a time when a woman's body endures tremendous stress due to dramatic physical and emotional changes. Using various techniques specially developed for the expecting mother, Pregnancy Massage helps release the pain and discomfort experienced throughout this time. The benefits are profound. Most notably, emotional support, relief from joint pain due to the extra weight causing postural imbalance, improved breathing and relaxation. The massage is traditionally performed with the client laying on their side with various pillows and cushions for support.
Hot Stone Therapy is a style of massage where heated stones are incorporated into the massage and used on the body to deepen relaxation and promote circulation. Muscles that are heated with these stones release tension and stress much more deeply and quickly than with a traditional massage. The overall experience is very relaxing, nurturing, and rejuvenating.
Acupressure is based on one the most ancient principles of healing; that simply touching a specific point on the body will release stress and improve health in the body. In an acupressure session I apply firm pressure directly to these "points" on your body which relieves your muscle tension and improves your circulation. This simple and powerful technique has been shown to be very effective in treating headaches, backaches and even insomnia.
May be integrated into any massage or booked as a 30 min focused treatment.
Aromatherapy utilizes therapeutic grade essential oils to enhance relaxation and ease muscle tension. Essential oils are concentrated oils that have been extracted from fruits, plants, and roots. Plants, herbs and oils have been used for centuries for wellness and medicinal purpose. Research has shown many oils have antiviral, antimicrobial, and anti-inflammatory properties, as well as, neurological affects that can aid in relieving a wide variety of physical and mental/emotional ailments. Aromatherapy is used by diffusing (inhalation) the oil in the air or by adding it into the massage oil/lotion during the session.
***Please advise your therapist of ANY allergies or skin sensitivities to any foods, plants, medicine, or any products.***
Some oils may cause an allergic reaction and can be dangerous if ingested.
Chair Massage is a popular way of relieving stress and releasing tension right in your home or workplace. You will receive your massage in a specialized ergonomic chair which I bring to your location. In addition to the usual health benefits of massage, another benefit of using a chair is that it is performed over the clothing. With this technique you can avoid the discomfort and awkwardness that you may feel in disrobing for a traditional massage. Also, chair sessions are usually shorter than traditional massage, making them convenient enough to fit into your busy schedule.
Massage time is 10/15 mins per person. Face rest coverings are discarded and the chair is sanitized between each client.
